GEETMALA began as a half hour radio show in December, 1952. Seven outstanding film songs were randomly selected and featured in a competition format, with a jackpot of Rs. 100/- each week.
Ameen Sayani, who presented "Geetemala" for all its 45 years on radio, has narrated the story of the programme's phenomenal success in Volumes 1 to 5 take the story of "Geetmala" forward peppered with amusing anecdotes, heart-warming nostalgia and immortal songs- particularly the beautiful numbers that trailed somewhat behind the chart-toppers.
