Legendary Wars now on iPad, free on iPhone

When I reviewed Legendary Wars back in March, I had only two minor complaints: it didn’t support Retina Display, and it didn’t support the iPad. Its developers, Liv Games, have addressed the display issue, and they’ve released a full iPad version. Legendary Wars HD is on sale this weekend for 99 cents, and even better, the iPhone version is free.

Again, just to focus on that for a minute, Liv Games is offering the full iPhone version for free from May 6th to May 8th. The iPad version will only cost you $ 0.99 during that time, after which it’ll go up to its customary $ 2.99. Current owners of the iPhone version may be disappointed to find out it’s not a universal app, but I have a feeling the $ 0.99 upgrade will be worth it.

And what is Legendary Wars? Liv Games describes it thus:

Liv Games unveils an iPad version of their acclaimed hybrid fantasy game, Legendary Wars. The game offers a unique blend of traditional RTS, RPG, and castle-defense game-play, set in a beautifully crafted, fantasy world. Now embracing all iOS platforms and offering crisp Retina Display graphics, Legendary Wars offers hours of progression through captivating landscapes on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.

Legendary Wars HD:

Throughout 50-plus stages, players command an assortment of units, from noble Elven Archers to brash Magical Unicorns. Players can upgrade their heroes, fortify their castle, obtain legendary armor, and unlock powerful combat abilities.

With individually controlled units, exciting boss encounters, and hordes of varied enemies, the need for strategic game-play grows as quickly as the intricate cast of characters.

And there’s more coming. Orian Livnat, creator of Legendary Wars, said, “We’re excited to release new monsters, bosses, endless mode challenges and tiers of armor soon!”

Trust me, though. There’s more than enough here to keep you occupied until then, and now it’s bigger than ever. As I said in my review:

As it stands, though, Legendary Wars is one of the best games I’ve played on the iPhone. In fact, on any handheld gaming device. You get over 50 levels to play, and you can unlock more than 10 “endless” modes. You get a wide variety of monsters and bosses to fight. You get a sharp sense of humor. You get great music. You get in-app purchases if you need to quickly power yourself up.

You get too many things to list. Just grab the game while it’s on sale and discover them yourself.

The advice still stands, and it does so now on all Apple iDevices. Can we look forward to a Mac version now?
