How to change the icons on your Mac programs

All software comes with a default program icon. It is kind of like that application’s calling card, giving you one visual representation of the program that makes it easy to locate and launch. But what if you do not like that icon? Are you stuck with it forever? No, you are not. You can change that icon by following these simple and easy steps.
  1. Find the new icons that you want to use. If you do not have them already, you can use Google in order to find some you want for your programs. If you have the skill, then you can make them in the graphics program of your choice.
  2. Click once on the icon you want to copy, then hit Command + C.
  3. Click once on the icon of the program you’d like to change, then hit Command + I.
  4. You should see the icon in top-left corner of the information window. Click on it so you see a thin blue outline around it.
  5. Hit Command + V
You should now see a new icon ready for you to use. This works with folder and documents icons, too.
