Great Place to Stay at Shimla: The Grand Hotel : Review

A great place to stay. This heritage hotel has had a very chequered past - has seen grand days and really bad times: has been a G.O.I. hotel and that should explain all!
Excellent value for Govt. servants, but is open for the public too, except that you pay a lot more - Rs.500/- or so for a very good room indeed!
It is a huge property and there is a lot to see on their campus itself.
Dining room is grand, but service is unpredictable - usually the catering is awarded to the lowest bidder!!
This Hotel has been renovated 2 years back and is currently not looking too bad.
Major problem: Bikes and cars are not allowed on the Shimla Mall, so you have to leave your 'sweethearts' at the public parking!
