Vidya Balan, Priyanka Chopra, Shahid Kapoor to inaugurate Indian Film Festival of Melbourne
Vidya’s film Kahaani will open the proceedings and Teri Meri Kahaani’s world premiere will be held at the fest
Expect some friction as the two reported exes of Shahid Kapoor –
Vidya Balan and Priyanka Chopra – will be with him in Australia this June. They will travel to the continent for the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), which will take place from June 11-22.
Vidya being the brand ambassador, her film
Kahaani will open the fest, while Shahid and Priyanka will be present for the world premiere of their film
Teri Meri Kahaani that releases on June 22. The three stars are opening night special guests along with Tamil superstar Vijay. Other Indian celebs slated to grace the IFFM include directors Kunal Kohli, Rituparno Ghosh and Rajkumar Hirani, scriptwriter Abhijat Joshi, fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee and actor-director Jugal Hansraj. While Kunal will be present to be with Shahid and Priyanka, the others will hold masterclasses at IFFM.
A mix of Bollywood, south Indian, Bengali, Pakistani, Sri Lankan and Nepali films will be screened at the fest, curated by filmmaker Onir. Apart from
Kahaani and
Teri Meri Kahaani, the movies to be screened include Imran Khan’s
Delhi Belly, Santosh Sivan’s
Urumi, Anurag Kashyap’s
Michael, Sri Lankan film
Chatrak, and Academy Award-winning documentary,
Saving Face. Rituparno Ghosh’s movie
Memories in March will close the festival.
Meanwhile, Shahid’s other famous ex, Kareena Kapoor will be attending the
12th New York Indian Film Festival (insert link), to be held from May 23-27, for her film
Heroine.
