Son Amar Mohile grieves over not being around when his father music arranger Anil Mohile passed away last week

We had no inkling that this was coming. My father was in good health. He went to sleep and never woke up.

When my mother called, I rushed over. We took him to the hospital. But the doctors said he was gone for a good five hours. The good thing was he went painlessly. He had that peaceful look on his face.The smile never left him, even when he was alive."

Those are the pained words of music arranger Anil Mohile's son, Amar. Mohile, 71, passed away last Wednesday in his Andheri residence. He was renowned for arranging music for films, including the 1978 Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Don.

Not many people, however, came to condole the Mohiles. Trying to play down the apathy Amar said, "Lots of people texted me. And some came to visit. But it was all so sudden, we couldn't even keep the body home. We will have a condolence meet at the Ambedkar Bhavan in Andheri today. My father has been part of the music industry for so many years. He generated a lot of goodwill in the industry."

Amar, a composer and arranger, too (he has scored music for Ram Gopal Varma and arranged music for Singham) added, "I accompanied my father to the US when I was 17, to play the keyboard for Lataji (Mangeshkar). It was a great beginning for my career and my father was proud of me. My only regret is, I wasn't here near him during his last hours."

On Friday, director Raj Kanwar, too, passed away.
